a cause des garçons

I'll be spinning french pop next wednesday night in Williamsburg. I don't think i've played french pop out since the days of Le One Night Stand. It should be a good little party. All the details are on this page, you should come out if you're in the hood...

VBS.TV has a series of 5 videos with Michel Gondry interviewing Charlotte Gainsbourg (this must have been shot around the time her album came out in the States). You may remember that Michel directed Charlotte in The Science of Sleep. In this interview (or rather, a video of two friends chatting), it's great to see Charlotte being comfortable talking about herself, her work and her parents- she used to be so terribly shy and introverted. But can i just say how awkward it is to me to hear two native french speakers talk to each other in english? Ok, that's probably just me, although i do love Charlotte's british accent. You can watch the videos here.

That reminds me, a few months back i started a post dedicated to Charlotte Gainsbourg, i'm thinking of resurrecting it, we'll see.

A couple more video links.... if you watch those MTV shows we hate to love (ahem, The Hills, ahem), you probably noticed the heavy promotion around french electropop sensation Yelle. One of the songs that is being featured is a cover of one of the greatest 80's pop songs from the band A cause des garçons, which is also the name of the song. I've played both the original and Yelle's cover on my radio show, and you'll probably hear one of the versions next week if you come to the party.

++ Watch Yelle's new video for Je veux te voir. [YOUTUBE] (Btw, I can't believe MTV plays this song on the air, if they knew what she was saying, the entire thing would be a big blip!)

Yelle's album Pop Up is out everywhere.
