atelier de creation et production
If you've known me for some time, you're probably aware of my semi-obsession with french clothing label A.P.C., to which i've been a devout adept since 1998. My closet is filled with staple items i've acquired since then (yes i still wear stuff i bought back in the 90's, because A.P.C. clothes do really stand the test of time), and i hardly ever skip a sales opportunity. But in reality, i'm more obsessed with its founding father, Jean Touitou, than i am with the clothes themselves. I read his blog religiously, and never miss an online or magazine interview/feature on him or the label.
There's something about the man that's just so cool, in that "coolest dad ever" way, that makes me feel fuzzy and right at home... but wait, maybe that's because he does kinda look like a younger version of my dad? Or maybe because, like my mom, he was born in Tunisia and could totally be a relative of mine? And perhaps my infatuation comes precisely from the fact that we share the same roots, and yet, he is way cooler than anyone i grew up with. I love his approach to clothes and to life in general. I love his vision, his muses and the overall nonchalant spirit that transcends everything he creates. Not to mention, his humor is as dry as those dates my mother made me eat at every single holiday ("so that life gets sweeter, ma fille!"). And to top if off, he is a huge music fan. So when i saw this profile video on Jean Touitou on The Moment blog, i got oh-so excited at the thought of finally hearing him speak (do i sound retarded yet?!)... but alas, no spoken words. Still, it's a nice little piece with witty quotes and inspiring images. Check it out here. You can purchase A.P.C. clothing and more at the stores or online.
