target practice
++ Die Romantik will play their first show of 2008 this saturday january 19th at the Mercury Lounge as part of local friends Apes & Androids' CD release party. I've heard about A&A's great live shows, and since this is their long awaited release party, it would not surprise me if this show sells in advance. Buy tix today.

++ This weekend, we got the chance to go to our friend Jonathan Viner's new art opening called "Target Practice" at the Jonathan Levine Gallery. Jonathan is a very talented young man whose paintings and drawings are awe-inspiring, dark, disturbing, and beautiful. You may recognize one of the paintings featuring a tree with gold leaves, which Jonathan offered for Die Romantik's Narcissist's Waltz cover. "Target Practice" will be up for display until february 9th. I very much recommend you go see the artwork in person as it is a million times more striking than on computer. However, if you're an art collector, act quickly, most pieces are already sold. Here are some of my favorites...

++ And speaking of openings, i'm looking forward to The Sartorialist's first photo exhibit at the Danziger Projects, running from january 15 through february 28. The Satorialist is one of my favorite daily stops. I go there to look at Scott Schuman's new photos and constantly find inspiration in his perfect compositions, beautiful color saturations, and the always well-put together outfits of his subjects. Sometimes, it's even fun when i recognize someone i know featured on the site. If you love style and "street" photography, don't miss this exhibit. A sample of what to expect...
