The new Postmarks video for Let go that Adam recently directed premiered last week on Stereogum. I absolutely love the look and atmosphere of this music video, it matches perfectly the softness and loveliness of the song. You can watch the video here or on Stereogum.

Singer of The Postmarks, Tim Yehezkely.
We finally got to watch Control, the Ian Curtis biopic directed by Anton Corbijn. I've always loved Corbijn's photos, so i knew that the movie would look great. And indeed, it was beautifully shot. A few years back, I read (and reviewed here, though i can't find the entry!) Deborah Curtis' book, Touching from a distance, and knowing that the movie would be based on her side of the story (emphasis on her side), i sorta knew what to expect... Overall, the film was enjoyable, but in my opinion, the story fell a bit flat. It had a couple of funny moments, and a few insights on Curtis' life, but it very superficially touched on each stage of his life and ended up making him incredibly one-dimentional. I did like Sam Riley's performance, and left the movie craving to listen to Joy Division, which i take as a good sign.

The actors in Control are all real musicians who actually played live the music of Joy Division during filming.
This week, we also went to see Lagerfeld Confidentiel, the documentary following the past 2 (3,4?) years of Karl Lagerfeld's life. Interestingly, over the past three years or so, my inclination for all things fashion and style has significantly grown into a full-blown interest (admittedly, i read way more fashion blogs and magazines than i do music these days), so i was quite excited to see this documentary. Again, it was enjoyable, but nothing mind blowing. There are absolute priceless moments and quotes, and Lagerfeld comes across as a very charming and full of humor character, but i realized i already knew everything that was to be revealed in this film. Not to mention, the excessively shaky hand-held camera work made me a bit nauseous... this said, i'll probably get the DVD as soon as it comes out, because i am after all still completely fascinated by Monsieur Lagerfeld.

Lagerfeld is a huge music fan, who owns hundreds of ipods. In 2006, he released a two-cd compilation of some of his favorite tunes, which i highly recommend.
And finally, you know what i forgot to mention, because well, i had a million other things on my mind in the last month... my site turned 5 years old on october 25th! Here's to another 5 years!
