do you remember the first time?
In february of 2004, i wrote the following blog entry:
The word in the streets of new york city is that my friend Greg, along with Leigh and Geo, is starting a new saturday night dance party! Something new is always something good. It's called Misshapes and promises to be quite fabulous and debaucherous, but most of all it's a night that focuses on the music and the variety of guest DJs. The first Misshapes will happen this coming saturday, the 21st, starting at 11pm and will be kicked off by Ultragrrrl and Miss Modernage on the one and twos. A duo who will make your ears bleed and your feet ache until 4am.
Miss Modernage ended up getting sick and not DJing, but the 50 or so people, including myself, in attendance that night had an amazing time. Tomorrow night will be the last MisShapes ever (as a weekly party in downtown manhattan)! And if you haven't heard, The MisShapes released a photo book this week, retracing the 3.5 years of partying, dancing and most of all posing... will you be there tomorrow to take your last MisShapes photo and dance to The Strokes and The Klaxons?
Here are some of my favorite MisShapes moments:

My third (or so) time DJing MisShapes - August 2004

DJing With Jarvis and Steve - September 2004

DJing again with Jarvis and Steve - February 2005

The first night at Don Hill's... do you remember the first time?

oh my
I took a little break from EVR today, but will be back next week to host my show La Décadanse with lots of new music, including songs from the new Vanessa Paradis album that came out in France yesterday. On her 5th studio album, Divinidylle, Vanessa collaborated with tons of great musicians including her usual partner in crime -M-. The title track is a great tribute to 60's pop, and the rest of the songs i have heard so far, i love... It's been twenty years since i bought Joe Le Taxi on 45, and i'm still a fan, amazing! You can view the video for Divine Idylle on her official site, and buy the new album on import.

Who painted Vanessa for the cover? Answer when i get my copy in the mail...
A couple of weeks ago, i joined Adam on the set of the music video he was directing for chicago band OFFICE. The video is for the song Oh My off of their upcoming debut album A Night At The Ritz, coming out September 25th. The uber-catchy pop group got to wear amazing 80's outfits and share some screen time with a few famous actors... to find out who they are, check back here as the video should be up soon.
