turn your pelvis to me lovely

It's been a bit of a slow week music wise over here... but for those located in new york, come get your dance on, as i'll be DJing at Lotus tonight (GBH's Loaded party) as well as tomorrow night (saturday) at RATED X at Luke & Leroy, where i hear there will be lots of burning angel girls...

I should mention that i recently started working with local band Die Romantik. It's been a really exciting new endeavor for me. We've been friends for some time, and even collaborated on shows and recording in the past, so it only made sense that i offered my services to them. Not just because they're my friends, but most importantly, because they are an incredibly talented group of people whose music continually amazes me. If you see lots of mentions and entries on them here, you've been warned! Feel free to email me if you'd like to find out more about the band. Their next show will be with The Postmarks on April 19th at Union Hall. The debut album Narcissist's Waltz is scheduled to be released in early June. In the meantime, i strongly recommend you download the title track:

In other news, i saw that one of the photos i took of Fountains of Wayne on the set of their new video made its way into this week's issue of Entertainment Weekly. Cool, non?

More photos i took on the band's website.

sin-e

Last week's east village radio show was a lot of fun (despite some major babbling!). To stream the archive, podcast the show or just get the playlist, go here. I'll be back on the air tomorrow morning, with more french pop!

Yesterday, local venue Sin-é closed its door (for the second time). I stopped by there last week to see Die Romantik play a great set. Sin-é was the place where Jasper and i started our Vicious party, which i think was the first of it's kind in the bloggers-present-shows category. We always loved it there. I also saw a lot of bands there that went on to bigger and better things (Secret Machines, Fiery Furnaces, The Stills, etc...) as well as a lot of local favorites. And though i hadn't been to Sin-é in what seemed ages, it is kinda sad to see a venue go. Brooklynvegan has a nice little post about it.
