someone to love
As previously mentioned, Charlotte Gainsbourg is starting to show up all over the press in anticipation of the domestic release of her new album. This week, she's gracing the cover of Bust magazine, accompanied by a story written by the lovely Sheila B. At our last Le One Night Stand party, Sheila had nothing but wonderful words to say about meeting Charlotte, i "awed" the whole time. I'm excited to read Sheila's first Bust cover story.

You may have also noticed that Miss Gainsbourg is currently on the cover of Paper Magazine, which i bought last week but haven't had time to read yet. I tend to buy a lot of magazines. but truth is i don't usually buy Paper every month... turns out that getting this one issue was going to bring a lucky twist of fate for the events that followed over the weekend.
Last week, Adam was full on preparing to direct the new music video for pop band Fountains of Wayne's new single Someone to love, and was still anxiously looking for the lead actress to play the role of Beth McKenzie. A few big name actresses were very interested and about to be cast, but at the very last minute could not make it on time for the shoot.
I came home thursday night with my Paper magazine, which not only had Charlotte on the cover, but also happened to be their 10th annual most beautiful people issue. I handed it to Adam saying that there had to be someone local in it we could find for the part. He opened the mag and saw this quirky looking girl posing as character "Fancy Nancy". We immediately jumped on google and myspace and found out that Fancy Nancy was the creation of a young actress named Faryl Millet. That night, Adam contacted Faryl and asked if she'd be interested to audition for the video. It was 12:08am. She responded that she not only was very interested, but as of 8 minutes, it was her birthday! Talk about a lucky day. The next day (on her birthday), she got the job. And lucky for everyone, she turned out to be so perfect for the part. The role of Seth Shapiro had already been cast and was to be played by none other than the hilarious Demetri Martin.
The video was shot over the weekend. It was so much fun being on set, taking photos, and constantly laughing courtesy of the two talented actors. I even make a quick cameo in the video! Laura stopped by and took a few photos of Demetri in his red pajamas. Needless to say, i can not wait to see the finished video, it's going to be awesome. And have i mentioned how incredibly catchy the song is? Obsessively catchy. Fountains of Wayne's new album Traffic and Weather will be out on april 3rd.
