the message
Why is it that no one believes me when i tell them that Grandmaster Flash (who just got inducted in the rock and roll hall of fame) is DJing tonight at Lotus upstairs? And while that happens, Marky Ramone will be downstairs spinning the rock and roll. You'll find me DJing before Marky. I know it does sound nuts, but that my friends is the truth.

I'd be surprised if by now you have not heard of Peter Bjorn and John, the swedish band that has been making the crowds dance since summer of 2006 with their whistling anthem known as Young Folks. So just in case you have in fact not heard of them, note that their debut album Writer's Block will be coming out in the US on February 6th. In support, the band will be playing live for the first time in New York and Los Angeles next week. When i include it in my DJ sets, Young Folks is by far the most wondered about song.

Tonight, i'm spinning at Michael T.'s big birthday party. The glamourous Michael, who has been a successful promoter/DJ in the new york nightlife for many years, will be performing on stage with The Impostors. I'm not entirely sure what kind of performance, but i'm certain it will be nothing short of amazing.

The Postmarks, who i've mentioned here a few times, are releasing their self-titled debut album on February 6th, and it is even lovelier than i anticipated. If you are a fan of the latest releases from El Perro Del Mar and Camera Obscura (and if you obviously love Brian Wilson and Burt Bacharach), then The Postmarks are for you. Stream the entire album here.

Last week, we checked out The Films play a show at Hiro, and as expected, they displayed all the promising qualities... great energy, great hooks, great tunes. And what a great surprise when they rocked a cover of The Ronettes' Be my baby. The album will be out in may, in the meantime, enjoy this little number:

The films hanging out... is that a horsehead on the table?
