Tonight, i recommend you go see The Films play live at Hiro. Though from the US, the band's music encompasses a few british rock eras that i fancy - think The Kinks meets Marc Bolan. I believe a debut album is coming out soon, in the meantime, check out the songs on myspace. They will also play next thursday at the Mercury Lounge.

Rob Sheffield's reading last night was a big success. He chose an excerpt that had everyone in the bookstore laughing out loud. He also dedicated the reading to David Bowie, who turned 60 yesterday. I started the book last night, and i am hooked. At the after-reading gathering, friends who have read the novel were raving about how amazing it is. As soon as i finish my copy, i will most likely jump on that bandwagon.
Somehow related, here's a fun trivia game to test your Rolling Stone knowledge. This game is to promote the new MTV reality show "i'm with Rolling Stone". I fell short on all the hip hop questions, surprise!
Friday night's show at the mercury lounge was great. I caught a bit of The Pierces' set and was pleasantly surprised by the voices and music of the two gorgeous siblings performing in front of a packed room. The Heroes were in such great form. They showed off the results of all the recent touring by playing one of the strongest performances to date. The after-party at Lotus was incredibly fun, if i can say so myself.
This friday january 12th, CALLING ALL KIDS is celebrating its one year anniversary! Should be a great night...
