Last night, The Oohlas treated the family and friends of Ultragrrrl to a live acoustic set at sarah's apartment. Considering the excitement of the crowded house and the sweet singing along to Small Parts at the end, let's just say that The Oohlas (from LA) have received quite the warm welcoming in new york. For my part, i missed their real shows these past couple of days, but i was pretty impressed by the unplugged version and totally smitten with Ollie's charismatic performance. Their debut album Best Stop Pop is out on sarah's label, Stolen Transmission.
For all of you record collectors, DJs, music fans and party crashers, i urge you to go to this nocturnal record swap tomorrow night, organized by brooklyn DJ and friend Rok One of the Bangers. Lots of local DJs and collectors will be coming with the goods, excepting to sell, trade and buy... and most will be DJing short sets of their favorite and most obscure stuff. I'll be making my way there later in the evening, hoping to trade/sell doubles i'll be digging for the occasion. Here's the official info:
