CMJ music marathon started yesterday, and it could not feel more overwhelming... just thinking of all the shows taking place makes me feel dizzy. In the past few years, i put a lot of pressure on myself to try to attend as many shows and detect as many good bands as possible. That often resulted in depriving me from very important sleep and normal brain functions for a few days. It's not to say that CMJ isn't fun, if you rally with the right people and do the venue rounds together, it's actually quite exciting. This time around i'm just going with the flow, wherever that may take me. For those looking for some party fun, i'll be guest deejaying at Jane Magazine's CMJ party on friday night at Libation. I need to find the flyer to post, but i saw that there are a lot of bands on the bill, deejaying not playing! Should be fun.
Tonight, eamon and i are having Calling All Kids at Sapphire for one last time, because we're moving the party! That's right, starting december 8th, we'll be hosting and spinning every other friday at Luke & Leroy. We have some great guest DJs lined up, and a few other surprises. We've been wanting to host our party on a weekend night, so we could make sure that everyone has guiltless fun until the wee hours of the morning. With this said, we love Sapphire and have had some amazing nights there, it's one of the best spots in the lower east side for sure. So in honor, everyone should come out and dance tonight...

me commerce
Last week marked the 4-year anniversary of this web site, which seems like an eternity to me. Although, updating my blog has taken a bit of a back seat due to a constant busy schedule, i still very much enjoy posting about my musical whereabouts, and will continue to do so, hopefully more frequently. I do desperately need to update all the links on the left column, as well as all the other pages of the web site. I also have plans for a complete re-design and a system upgrade in the very near future... though i have to say, i'm quite happy with how well the design of the site has aged over the years. My goal is to have everything upgraded and revamped by the end of year.
In the meantime, i'm trying this new personal music shop that you may notice on the right column. Basically, the concept is similar to having my small indie store online. I get to pick CDs, DVDs, books i like and recommend, and if you feel like it, you can buy the recommended items straight from here. I get a few bucks for every item sold, which will be re-directed for re-design and hosting fees. The cool thing is you don't need to leave my web site, you can do the whole transaction right here. Obviously, i'll only be suggesting music and other items that i consider worth buying. Since this program is still pretty new, If you have any issues purchasing anything, let me know! I'll be rotating the items for sale, this week i picked:
:: Monsieur Gainsbourg Revisited - featuring Serge Gainsbourg covers by Franz Ferdinand, Cat Power, Jarvis Cocker, Michael Stipe and more...
:: Soul Jazz Records Presents Tropicália: A Brazilian Revolution in Sound
:: Delta 5 - Singles and Sessions 1979-81
And as always, thanks for reading!!
