eddie's gun

A quick reminder that my wonderful little party CALLING ALL KIDS is taking place tonight and every wednesday night at Sapphire starting at 10pm. This week, our friend Justine D. is our guest DJ, and to keep everyone cool and refreshed, we have a $3 PBR special all night long! Sapphire is located at 249 eldridge street between stanton and houston st.

I've been playing this song from UK band The Kooks out for a while now. They're finally getting released statewide on Astralwerks on October 3rd. No mp3 of this single yet, but you can stream the catchiness here:

charlotte forever

Back from Paris, where it was so hot but so fun. We watched a lot of bad french hip hop music videos, saw an enjoyable but somewhat disappointing Marie-Antoinette, and debated buying a Serge Gainsbourg complete boxset priced at a mere 222 Euros... but we decided to wait to get it and stopped by 5 Bis rue de verneuil (private hotel where Serge lived which has the the infamous graffitied wall) as a consolation prize.

In related news, today i was very excited to hear a song from the new album (1st album in over 15 years!) from Charlotte Gainsbourg. Check out Les Filles Sourires for details on her collaborations and to download the mp3 of her first single. Charlotte's official myspace page also has a couple of songs for listen. When i was a young girl, i was a big fan of her debut album Charlotte Forever, which i listened to recently and still find so endearing. Charlotte, who is now in her 30's (she was a teen when her first album came out), sounds so different today (obviously), more mature and confident and very similar to her mother Jane. I like the single a lot, though i wish she sang in french on it. The album entitled 5.55 is scheduled for release in europe at the end of august. Charlotte also plays one of the main characters in Michel Gondry's new movie, The Science of Sleep.

In local news, Wormseye unveiled another stunning music video for the very catchy God is going to get sick of me from Boston band Abderdeen City. When a simple and very cool concept is well executed, the result looks something like this:

Aberdeen City :: God is going to get sick of me [QUICKTIME]
