the back room

The story about the Editors show tomorrow night is as following... they are still playing at new venue The Annex as part of TISWAS. Peter Hook will be guest deejaying upstairs right after their set. Nick Marc and Spiky Phil, the party organizers and residents will be spinning upstairs throughout the night as well. I will be deejaying in the downstairs room from 11pm until closing. The event is completely sold out, but all tickets purchased for The Annex or Hiro will be honored. Come early! Also, stop by the downstairs room, i'll be playing a mixture of 60's french pop, international pop-rock, 80's new wave, new music, etc... I'm hoping i'll get to see some of the Editors set, but if anything i'm really hoping to meet Hooky! Needless to say, the night will certainly be insanely fun, emphasis on "insane".

lost

I've been so wrapped up watching the first season of LOST on dvd that i haven't been updating the site... isn't that the best excuse you've heard?

Last week, i had three great gigs. CALLING ALL KIDS was another success, i really love this new party of mine, and i hope that if you haven't checked it out, you will soon. Thursday, i deejayed at Joe's Pub where Benzos put on a great live performance, playing new songs, showing off a slightly more psychedelic direction. The sound and stage at Joe's Pub is becoming a favorite of mine, i hope more bands will play there in the future. In fact, i know they will, because i plan on putting on shows there very soon! Saturday i spun at Michael T and Theo's party RATED X at Scenic, and had so much fun playing for the dancing crowd there.

This saturday, if you didn't get tickets for TISWAS with Editors playing, while Peter Hook and myself will be deejaying, i highly recommend you check Michael T.'s birthday at Rated X. The Cloud Room will be playing so it should be a great night all around. Speaking of The Cloud Room, i just happened to read this very interesting article (via Brooklynvegan), giving some insight on how much of a struggle it is for local bands to get their music out there (meaning outside of nyc) these days. And for anyone who actually thinks blogs "break" bands, think again. It takes so much more than just a mention (even coated with all the hype in the world) on a few music blogs for a band to actually start getting the proper attention and selling records. I'm not saying it doesn't help, but it sure is a tiny part of the equation.

Also saturday night, as if we didn't have enough hot live action going on, Asobi Seksu will be playing at the mercury lounge with scandinavian shoegazers Serena Maneesh. Asobi Seksu, who i have been a long time supporter of, has finished recording their new album called CITRUS, which should come out in the spring. Very exciting.
