A little anecdote... a couple of times this month, this tall british guy came to ATOMIQUE and kept requesting The Cribs. Last night, after requesting them again and me recognizing him from the last time, he ended up telling me that it was HIS band and they just played the mercury lounge... honestly, that surprised me since i'd seen the guy at the party before and thought that if you're a young NME-praised band, you have better to do than spend your summer in new york city requesting your own songs. Turns out after looking at photos of The Cribs (and their touring schedule), i was right, that dude was going around the club convincingly telling people that he's in the band when he's not. I should invite The Cribs to come by next time they're in town and meet one of their super hardcore creepy fans.

return the gift

The GoStation played a great show at Arlene's on monday night in a room full of fans, it was awesome to witness.

"You've heard the tribute bands. Now let the original blow you away". Love that. New Gang of Four album out october 11, 2005.

Next friday, that would be september 2nd, i'll be guest deejaying in Paris! My first out of town gig, very exciting! If you're over there and want a great night like we have them in new york, come out! The place is called Planet Mars, the party "Here comes sickness" (fyi, it's not my party). It's located at 21 rue keller (metro Bastille or Voltaire), it goes from 10 to 2am and it's FREE! Along with me will be DJ Dr Chrome who will be spinning garage and post-punk. As for me, i promised to bring lots of new york bands along with my usual mix.

Before next week, there is tonight!!

not about love

Le One Night Stand was great as always, despite the fact that the Puffy Ami Yumi girls didn't show up (their manager did though). That's the thing about afterparties, you plan the party with the manager or publicist, and you hope the band shows up, but sometimes they don't. It's entirely up to them, and that's ok. We all had a lot of fun, my first set was all 60's french pop, my second set was all 80's french pop. What goes over the best are the covers of english speaking songs in french. Like when i played 60's band Les Lionceaux covering The Kinks. I guess covering the current hits in french was done a lot in the past. Thanks to all who came, the next one will be at Scenic on september 10th.

You still have two mondays to see The GoStation play for free at Arlene's Grocery, tomorrow included.
