Tickets for day 2 of the VICIOUS anniversary at Southpaw on July 20th are now onsale at ticketweb! If you want to come to this show, i'd advise that you buy your tickets very soon, half the tickets are gone already!
If you're in new york, pick up the new issue of The Deli, Jin, Jay and myself have a page to ourselves where we talk about local music. I should have mentioned to pick up the NME when Greenday was on the cover, i wrote a small article on Karen Elson's music in it.
Tonight, two of my favorites, The Black Spoons and A Place to Bury Strangers are playing the main stage at the Knitting Factory. Meanwhile, another favorite of mine, Home Video plays the Mercury Lounge. Tonight is also Karen's birthday bash (happy birthday!!) at Stolen Transmission at the Orchard Bar, so head over there for some late night dancing.
Saturday, The GoStation will be headlining Tiswas and celebrate the release of their EP!

surprise me
I stopped by the Bowery Ballroom for a minute last night and caught the end of The Picture's set. How impressed was i? a lot! the band has grown so much since last time i saw them... they were confident, comfortable and owning the stage. Even the songs i knew had a different vibe to them. I could tell that they won quite a few fans last night, seeing as how packed the room was early on. They're going on a mini UK tour next week, and will be opening for Louis XIV in London, get there early if you plan on going to that show. If you want to listen to snippets of The Picture songs, go here.
I stayed for half of Benzos' set, i wish i stayed longer cause the band was absolutely on, especially Christian The Thief (nice shirt by the way!). I get to see Benzos a lot, and there are songs that never fail to get me excited when i hear them live, and the fact they're also excited about playing is vastly infectious. Benzos is going on tour with The Cloud Room this summer, go support!
After the show, i obviously went to ATOMIQUE and was so glad to see everyone dancing to The Long Blondes! Maybe i was wrong about Tom Vek, Giddy Stratospheres may very well be the song of the summer. I posted an MP3 of it here, get it while it's up. Update: I forgot to mention that this guy requested The Arcade Fire last night at ATOMIQUE, and like a dork, i totally recognized him from the only episode i watched (the one where he got the boot actually).
Tonight, The Mobius Band plays The Mercury Lounge. I love both latest releases but i have yet to see them live, maybe tonight if i can keep my eyes open.

The Picture, Benzos and Longwave show tomorrow at the Bowery Ballroom is nearly sold out, so if you plan on going, buy your tickets now! I'm hosting the afterparty for Benzos and The Picture tomorrow at ATOMIQUE @ Lit right after the show. Christian from Benzos will be our special guest DJ! Also, pick up Longwave's new album There's a fire, it is out today.
Are you a lady and a fan of Depeche Mode who can also play keys, or guitar or sing?? If so local band Violator (an all female Depeche Mode cover band) is looking to revamp their lineup! Message the girls on myspace if you're interested.
Long weekend ahead means Motherfucker on sunday night at Spirit featuring The Fever live, who i believe played the party exactly two years ago. Also, not to miss, Surefire are playing Shout! at Bar 13 on sunday night!
The Deli is having their 3rd issue release party/show this thursday at Tonic, great lineup as always.
Thanks to all who came to Movida on saturday night!
