juste pour un soir
Tonight, a lot of of you will probably be attending the DIESEL-U-MUSIC awards show at the Roxy. Should be a fun gig that i am unfortunately missing...
Whatever your plans may be, you should come over to Bar Eleven for Le One Night Stand, a night of all french pop & rock! Amylu and Andy have planned a great evening, with go-go dancers, giveaways, free vodka drinks the first hour, and birthday cakes! The theme is 60s Ye-Ye, so make sure you dress for the occasion cause Merlin will be snapping shots of your pretty faces all night. I'll be spinning at 11:30pm, but come early to catch Sheila B.'s set and of course stay late for all the other fabulous DJs. There's no cover by the way!
Had to cut the flyer in two for this narrow space, but click here to see the full size flyer.

I want to THANK everyone who came to ATOMIQUE@ Lit last night, it was quite the party! I didn't make it to the show, but heard that it was fantastic, which is probably why everyone came in such a good mood.
The SPOON guys were lovely. Britt arrived a bit later and made his appearance behind the DJ booth for a little while. We plugged his iPod and he picked music between that and whatever cds he could find laying around. Truth be told, he seemed a bit overwhelmed by the big crowd and attention, but he was such a great sport about the whole thing. As for music selection, he went old school for the most part, and played Interpol, The Rolling Stones, Queen, The Beatles, The Clash, and more that i can't remember right now... it was such a good time all around, so glad we did it.
It's been a crazy fun week, after saturday night, i'm gonna need a month vacation of doing nothing at night, but knowing me, that will never happen!

gimme fiction
Tonight (that would be wednesday june 8th), we're stoked to be hosting the official SPOON Afterparty at ATOMIQUE @ Lit (Downstairs)!
There is no cover and no guest list, everyone's welcome, and those who will be coming from the show will get free drinks until 12am just by showing their ticket stubs/wrist bands to our lovely waitress.
Probably the best part of the night is our Special Guest DJ: SPOON's frontman Britt Daniel! I'm hoping Britt will bring his own remixes (á la brilliant Interpol's Slow Hands) along with his great musical selections!
In addition, we'll be giving away the Comedy Central STELLA DVDs (we have so many of them), courtesy of Filter Magazine.

Download the first ATOMIQUE MIX!

tip for the top
How could my week start on a better note than going to see The Futureheads play a fantastic show? I don't know how they do it, but they never cease to amaze me. They play with such precision and energy, and have great natural interaction on stage. The cool thing about The Futureheads' set is that it's quick and to the point. They storm through the songs, and by the time the show is over, you go "already?". It was really fascinating seeing them play in a larg-er venue filled with so many people, only because they're not as accessible or immediate as other current bands, but yet seem to have really found a niche over here. They played most of the album, a b-side, a Television Personalities cover and a brand new song.
The after-party was awesome, i started my set with technical difficulties, but once everything was fixed and going, i was having a blast. It was also the perfect location, not too big or small, and the band and their friends (from Franz Ferdinand amongst others) seemed to have a really good time.
I missed the Pianos acoustic show, but you can check the setlist here. Stereogum has posted nice photos as well.
Tomorrow, we're having a special ATOMIQUE with a super special guest DJ... i'll post the flyer later today. In the meantime, i'm very proud to present you the first ATOMIQUE MIX! It will will give you a taste of what we're currently playing. Eamon and i each mixed (live) about 8 songs that, once put together on a cd, we will be giving out at the party. Enjoy!

decent days and nights
If you're going to see The Futureheads tonight at Webster Hall, come by Black and White afterwards where i'll be deejaying at the official afterparty! I couldn't be more ecstatic to see them play and then DJ. By the way, tickets are still available, wtf?
I mentioned this week will be nuts, so many shows and parties. Save your thursday night because i'm having an early birthday celebration at Le One Night Stand at Bar 11, an all French pop party presented by Amylu and Andy! I'll be spinning as well, all french music, how so appropriate! The night will be mostly centered around 60s pop, but i've got some classic 70's and 80's tunes that i cannot wait to play... here comes La Boum 3!
