vacation, all i ever wanted
This year i would have loved to spend some time and money at SXSW, WMC or even Coachella, but instead i opted for a real (much needed) vacation with no music involved, but with loads of sand, sun, ocean and even family members! The vacation starts today, and so i won't be updating much, if at all, this week. A few things before i go...
For all bands out there who email me about booking shows, please continue to do so at this email: booking [at] melodynelson.com
Speaking of Coachella, if you're not going already, you may want to enter this contest to win a free trip to the festival to see Razorlight (and a hundred other bands) play:

If you're looking for stuff to do this week, here's what i recommend:
MisShapes on Saturday with swedish band The Sounds guest deejaying.
On Tuesday, Shaw Promotion is hosting a one night off 60s and contemporary french pop party, Le One Night Stand at Bar Eleven, that i would have deejayed at, had i not taken the week off! I'm really hoping they'll do it again soon because this looks like a ton of fun...

On tuesday night, check out Vicious tuesday for some great live music.
On thursday, there will be no ATOMIQUE since it's on vacation with melody nelson.
Finally, some music from Doves "Some Cities EPK" video:
QT 56 | 100 | 300
WM 56 | 100 | 300
RP 56 | 100 | 300
I'm turning off the comments for this week, too much spamming.

Don't forget to come by Any Suggestions? at HIRO (at the Maritime Hotel) tonight hosted by GBH. Guest Djs are: Mylo, Cat Hartwell, Melody Nelson (me!) + resident DJ Nick Mark. RSVP here for complimentary admission: alejandro @ gbh.tv
My mate marco keeps me up to date with what's new and good coming out of the UK, the last band he recommended totally stuck with me, they're called Havana Guns. Listen to this track, tell me what you think:
Havana Guns :: She always goes down [mp3]
He recommended a bunch more i haven't listened to yet, but will soon and of coure share with you all.
If you live in nyc, pick up the new issue of The Deli Magazine, it comes out this week, it's free and it only focuses on local music! (You'll find it at record stores, venues, coffee shops, etc...). Jay, Jin and i have a little page dedicated to ramblings on our love for local bands. There will be a 2nd issue launch party this friday at Sin-e.

LIT on friday night was as expected a madhouse until the very last song of the night. Big thanks to those who showed the love and the dance moves! I'll be back there very soon i'm sure. Also, shout out to Matt GoStation for being my gracious and overworked guest DJ at ATOMIQUE last week.
