snow in mexico

Finally, a tentative release date for Fiona's new album...

Ash's coming back on tour!! Irving plaza on june 13th.

We just got back from seeing Mark Gardener play solo. There was a rumor running in town that Andy Bell would show up, but that my friends just stayed at that.
Since i only know very little about Ride and never got to see them live, i wasn't sure what to expect. The show was quite enjoyable, it was just him on accoustic guitar. He played a set full of Ride songs in additon to his own new material. Mark has a really soft and captivating voice. In a way, tonight felt like seeing any other talented singer-songwriter perform... except i know that it's not really the genre it's supposed to fall under, but that's what the songs sounded like to me unplugged. Perhaps it was the falsetto that threw me off? I bet his new songs sound completely different backed up by a full band... i guess we'll find out soon, when his stuff gets released.

knives out

Radiohead @ The Beacon Theatre on June 6th. It's for an MTV taping.
Don't ask me when tickets go onsale, i have no idea. I do know, however, that if YOU get a ticket and i don't, you'd better give it to me or else i will have to use violence.
If you're rich, rich, rich, try this... money goes to charity, but damn $1,400?! Coo-coo!!

go back to sleep

It's nice to see new bands with a promising future. We saw one play last night, Dirty on purpose... if you like: Sigur Rós + a little shoegazing + nice guitar buildups + pretty girl singing + nice band, then look out for them.

Check out our girl Justine D on the cover of time out new york!

If you're around nyc on friday, you should go to Motherfucker, it's a fun party. This friday The Witnesses and W.I.T are playing... eh, not so sure about W.I.T, although electrogreg would totally disagree with me.

What? Interpol in Abercrombie??! Relax it's just an interview...

There you go, the Field day Music Festival is officially happening... looks good. Tickets onsale this friday.

Looks like Earlash has a bit of a new look and lots of nice new stuff on the home page! I heard they're even in the process of doing some cool music giveaways... nice work kids!

Miss new york doll, our favorite front-row concert-goer, gets her own little space to show off her fabulous live photos!

And, i finally got to read NME's piece on Shawn Stellastarr*'s fantastic paintings... all i have to say is you are sooo behind NME, i covered that story three months ago!!

this mess we're in

How do you organize/categorize your CD collection? The Morning News' Andrew Womack wrote this very useful guide to record organization...
Right now, mine is organized passively, there's no sense or order but if you ask me for an album i know exactly where it is. Only problem with this method is that i forget what i have. I want to re-org cause it's kind of a mess, any suggestions?
